Calgary Parging Cost Guide · Reviewed May 2026
How much does parging cost in Calgary?
Calgary Parging built every price range on this page from more than 1,360 written estimates issued across Calgary and surrounding communities between 2020 and 2026, adjusted to current 2025–2026 labour and material rates. Calgary Parging has been a Calgary-based parging and foundation contractor since 2012, and every range here reflects documented project costs, not manufacturer estimates or competitor averages.
Cracked, flaking parging is the most common foundation complaint Calgary Parging sees across Calgary, and it is almost always fixable. Parging is the thin cement coat applied over your exposed foundation. When parging fails, water infiltrates behind the coating and accelerates concrete deterioration, leading to structural repairs that cost significantly more than a recoat.
If the damage runs into the concrete itself, see our foundation crack repair work. If it is the wall above the foundation, that is stucco repair or stucco painting.

Cost factors
What drives the price
Two parging jobs of the same size can land at very different prices. These five variables move a quote up or down the most.
| Factor | Effect on cost |
|---|---|
| Size & scope | The biggest driver. One wall is a fraction of a full perimeter; tall or walkout foundations add area. |
| Surface condition | Crumbling parging or old black tar coatings need extra removal and grinding; add $345 – $920. |
| Access & obstacles | Decks, AC units and tight yards slow work; tall foundations may need scaffolding ($575 – $2,900). |
| Finish & colour | Acrylic costs more than cement; colour matching to existing stucco or brick adds $230 – $575. |
| Season | Parging adheres best above 5°C, typically April through October in Calgary. Off-season applications require heated hoarding to maintain cure temperature, adding $400 – $1,200 depending on exposure area. |
| Home type | Typical scope | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Bungalow | Full perimeter, shorter foundation | $2,050 – $3,450 |
| Two-storey | Full perimeter, taller walls | $2,900 – $4,850 |
| Bi-level / split | Mixed-height walls, often 2–3 sides | $2,300 – $4,000 |
| Walkout basement | Extended exposed foundation at rear | $3,450 – $5,750 |
| Townhouse / duplex | Shared walls reduce scope | $1,400 – $2,900 |
| Condo (per-unit share) | Pro-rated from full-building cost | $1,700 – $4,600 |

Which do you need?
Patch or recoat?
The right call comes down to how much of the parging has actually failed. Here is the quick rule of thumb we use on site.
Patch
When the rest is solid
Best when damage is limited to one or two spots and the surrounding coating is sound. Patches save money up front, but may not blend perfectly into the existing texture.
Recoat
When it is failing widely
The move when parging is crumbling in several places, bare concrete shows, the coating is 25+ years old, or you are preparing to sell. A recoat gives a uniform, like-new finish.

Parging cost FAQ
Don’t see your question? Call (403) 727-4464 and the crew will walk you through it.
How long does parging last in Calgary? +
Properly applied, 15–25 years. Freeze-thaw, moisture and UV are the main enemies; south-facing walls wear fastest.
Can you parge over old parging? +
Usually yes, if the existing surface is solid and well-bonded. Loose or crumbling parging has to come off first.
Is parging covered by home insurance? +
Most home insurance policies exclude parging replacement because insurers classify foundation coating deterioration as normal wear and maintenance rather than sudden accidental damage. A sudden, accidental event such as vehicle impact may qualify under the "sudden and accidental" damage clause common to Alberta home insurance policies. Review your policy wording or confirm coverage with your insurer.
Do you offer a warranty? +
Yes, a transferable 5-year warranty on materials and workmanship for standard and acrylic-finished parging. See our full warranty.
